An outdoor sculpture park in a parkland setting.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a full days photography if caught on the right day. It has a car park, which is pay and display, formal galleries, woodland walks, a large collection of sculptures set out in a way that encourages exploration. There are several defined walks the longest of which takes you around the lake, to galleries on the far site of the park, and back into the other end of the sculpture park to Bretton Hall. There are a number of notable sculptures including several by Henry Moore and they are set far enough back that it is usually possible to get photographs without people in at all; although some sculptures encourage interaction and therefore offer opportunities for photographing people engaging with the works.
The car park can get full as it is a popular place for picnicking as well as seeing the sculptures, so early is best.
Access is from a roundabout on Huddersfield Road, it is very clearly signposted and cannot be missed. An alternative parking place is included on the map with route markers indicating the walk. It's about a mile or so to the sculpture park.
